Ingredients
-
Lumberjack Hickory Maple Seasoning by PS Seasoning
-
Maple Bourbon Wing Sauce by PS Seasoning
-
Hattie Z’s Nashville Hot Seasoning by the Spice Guy
-
The Wing Man Buffalo Sauce by The Spice Guy
-
1 3-5 lb Whole Chicken
-
1 16-24 oz Can of Beer
Directions
Preheat your smoker or grill: Preheat your smoker or grill to 325 °F using indirect heat. If using a pellet smoker we recommend using hickory, oak, or mesquite pellets.
Prepare the chicken: Clean the whole chicken, remove the insides, and pat dry with a paper towel.
Season the chicken: Apply a small amount of Maple Bourbon Wing Sauce by PS Seasoning and The Wing Man Buffalo Sauce by The Spice Guy to the entire bird, lightly covering all sides (trust us on this!). If you want an extra kick, lightly season with one coat of Hattie Z’s Nashville Hot Seasoning by the Spice Guy. Season a second round with a heavier layer of Lumberjack Hickory Maple Seasoning by PS Seasoning.
Mount the chicken onto the beer can: Open a 16-24 oz can of beer and pour about a quarter of the beer out of the top. Place the beer can on a baking rack in the middle of the smoker or grill. Hold the chicken by its legs supporting the back, placing the chicken over the beer can so that the beer can can act as a support for the chicken.
Smoke the beer can chicken for 2 hours at 325 °F or until the beer can chicken has reached 165 °F internal in the breast, remove chicken from the grill and let cool.
Once cool, remove the beer can, slice and enjoy!
Recipe Note
Pro Tips: Beer can chickens are a great way to roast whole chickens to make delicious and juicy meat for your favorite week day lunches or game day appetizers like buffalo chicken dip. Level up this chicken by giving it a buttermilk brine!
